After a Hiatus from making straight up Hip Hop, Ghost returns to the scene with a compilation of tracks that were never finished before he decided to leave the UK for the calmer surroundings of New Zealand in 2008.
Let's just rewind here for a moment, take you back to 2006, Ghost released the critically acclaimed debut album 'Seldom Seen Often Heard' off the back of a number of EP's which were also critically acclaimed. Earning him a spot at Glastonbury and a feature on the Glastonbury promotional CD for 2007 along the way. After spending the next couple of years performing live with Verb T and Kashmere up and down the UK, across Europe and loads of festivals Ghost found himself needing a change of scenery.
By this time most of 2nd album 'Freedom of Thought' was completed and Ghost left the UK and settled himself in NZ, 'Freedom of Thought' was released in 2009 to yet more critical acclaim. This was a different album though, 80% of the album was instrumental and showcased a depth in composition surprising many people. Taking his production beyond his Hip Hop roots and doing it with style showcased a producer not afraid to step out of his comfort zone.
In 2010 Ghost went a step further on 3rd album 'Postcards from the Edge', ditching samples altogether, instead composing a rich, synth laden wonky and future beats long player that wouldn't of sounded out of place as the backdrop to a Sci Fi epic. Garnering media attention from the most respected music journalists in New Zealand Ghost immediately made his mark in his new home.
Hip Hop has always been playing in the background despite Ghost moving forward as a producer. The forthcoming Geesus Host projects continue the sound design and future beats soundscapes Ghost found himself fascinated with, but Ghost has always maintained his first love was Hip Hop.
So, 2011, here we are.. We bring you Ghost presents ... 'Best Kept Secrets' Vol 1. All have now been finished, mixed, mastered by Ghost himself and brought to you in all there glory.
